The Sunburst Clock: Shine a Light on Your Wall

A clock is just a simple indicator of time.  24 hours, 60 seconds, three or more hands, constantly ticking. It somehow makes you wonder why timepieces, especially wristwatches, can cost more than a family sedan.  The irony of it?  Indeed, time is gold but priceless.  It is so important that once you lose a nanosecond, you can never have it back.  And there is something in the sunburst clock design that delves on a deeper meaning such as time.

The design resembles the rays of the sun.  For people in the know, this gives out an impression of positivity.  Its rays point in all directions, encompassing space in its entirety.  The rays apparently represent a positive energy.  Governed by esthetic principles, sunburst clock designs have evolved with time as well.

While there are a lot of designs to choose from, sunburst clocks have remained competitive in the market.  Prices range from double-digit figures to hundreds.  If owning one is part of your plan, going for the gold is okay.  Settling for a pricey piece is not that bad a decision especially if you plan to have it for a long term, or for as long as it defines style in a room and doesn’t spoil the other aspects of design.  If well taken care of, you only have to worry about the batteries.

There are thousands of other large wall clock designs, but these are plain designs.  There is nothing attached to it, just a piece of artwork.  The sunburst alone displays an eclectic line.  But they fall short in meaning.  It is hard to find meaning in simple things these days.  People are too preoccupied to compete with time before it runs out.  But a simple clock had the capacity to penetrate through what is essential and set aside its material value just by its outline.

Buying Digital Wall Clocks

The digital clock followed the introduction of the digital watch, which was released in 1972. Instead of your traditional clock face, with the short hand pointing to the hour and the long hand indicating the minutes, it represented time in numbers, which is easily readable for those who want to know what part of the day it is at one glance. Unlike its analog predecessor, the digital wall clock has crisp imaging using either an LED or LCD display, and comes in many attractive designs. A number of digital wall clocks even include data on temperature, as well as a mini-calendar that tells you what day, month and year it is. You also have the option to adjust it to either a 24-hour or 12-hour setting.

A large digital wall clock can run either on batteries or through an AC/DC adapter, and is ideal for those who need a little help when it comes to seeing things clearly. Some models are glow in the dark, while others have a button that allows the user to turn on night lights for better vision during the evening. Most clocks have built-in alarm systems that sound off based on the user’s settings. For the hearing impaired, certain units even have speakers that the user can press to hear the time, date, day or temperature. High-end models sometimes include a radio that allows you to tune into music. An LED digital wall clock, such as the one you see at cinemas or airports, is great for commercial or office use.

There are many perks to owning a digital wall clock, including the benefit of precision—knowing what time it is to the millisecond. Depending on your interests, you can get something that can sense temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius, as well as lunar indicators, informing you what phase the moon is in. There are units that come with a wireless thermometer or a remote sensor for temperature.
