Mens trifold wallets are a popular choice among men who prefer carrying a slimmer and less bulky wallet than the more traditional bifold wallet.  These style of wallet is designed to carry credit cards, a drivers’ license and other items in a more compact space that that is actually trimmer.  These wallets are unique and make a statement about the man carrying it.

The trifold is a mainstay among quality wallet manufacturers like Weatherly, Dockers and Nautica and comes in a large range of popular colors, leathers or other materials.  Some trifold wallet styles are conservatively designed while others are made to clearly speak to a theme.  Depending on the manufacturer and where the wallet is purchased, prices can range from as little as $5.99 to $70.  A mediam priced trifold can be bought for around $25 to $30.  Higher quality trifolds can cost as much as $70.

Trifold wallets can have some interesting features.  They are often made with a clear cover compartment for personal identification such as a driver’s license.  Slots on each side flap can be made to hold up to eight credit cards in taller trifold wallets.  Typically, a standard size trifold style wallet has six credit card slots.  Many of this wallet style also have a compartment on the outside of the trifold to hold the most used credit card or another ID card.

The quality of a wallet can be judged by the kind of leather used to make the wallet, the stitching integrity and attention to detail in construction.  Well made wallets for men has the fine leather smell and “feel” to it that says quality.

A man’s wallet is an accessory that makes a subtle statement about him.  A well made men’s trifold wallet quietly announces that the owner appreciates quality and also looks for uniqueness in the items he purchases.  A good trifold wallet qualifies in both respects.

Collecting Vintage Jewelry

Vintage jewelry, especially vintage costume jewelry, goes begging for a place to be saved and loved. No one wants the “tacky” jewelry of the 1960′s and 1970′s. But if you saved it now, in another thirty years you would have a collection that would get you interviewed by the collectibles newspaper, because you collected the stuff everyone else threw out. Look at the collecting newspapers and magazines today and they are talking about the stuff from the 1940′s and 1950′s. Time makes the common things of the past worth print space, and perhaps even money, after enough of it has been thrown out and a new generation has grown up.

Remember cuff-links and the shirts that required them? Unless you were in a wedding recently, you probably don’t. Vintage cufflinks are a real thing of the past. At one time all well dressed men, or men with one business suit for Sundays and funerals, owned at least one set of cufflinks. Now, unless you own your own tuxedo, you only have cufflinks if they are a momento of a past family member. Shirts no longer require them, so they are disappearing into obscurity. Save some in your collection of vintage jewelry. You may even find gold cufflinks in your collection, or those with pearls, as men used to wear such things.

Vintage costume jewelry can be easy to acquire. Garage sales, flea markets, thrift stores and estate sales can supply you with items to amuse you for hours. There are books for some of the vintage costume jewelry, so you may be able to find some of your treasures in one. As more of this jewelry is collected, and gets older, more books will be written, so if your jewelry is not there today, it may be tomorrow, or next year. Meanwhile, keep collecting.

Automatic Watch Winders

Do you think automatic watch winders are really necessary? The answer is “yes”! With the increasing popularity of automatic watches, these devices have become more of a necessity.

A winder is a mechanical device that was intended to keep automatic watches running when they’re not worn. Automatic watches are not powered by batteries which means they run down whenever they’re not worn at a regular basis. These winding devices keep the watch ticking and ready to use whenever you want to.

Automatic watch winders imitate the movement of the wearer’s wrist by turning the watch regularly. Some people say that they’re not necessary and they’re just a luxury rather than a necessity. However, they are very important in keeping watches running at all times.

When you’re looking for a winder, you have to consider certain factors to end up choosing the best. These factors include the electrical power source, the noise level of its motor and the directional timer. Here are some tips that can help you select a winder suitable for your automatic watch:

  1. If you wear your automatic watch daily, a winder won’t be necessary. Watch collectors with numerous automatics should consider winders to keep their watches lubricated.
  2. If you have two automatics, choosing a winder to accommodate one watch is enough. If you want to collect automatics, look for multiple watch winders.
  3. Keep away from cheap winders that rotate watches in a certain motion. Automatics were planned to contour with the wrist’s different twists and turns.
  4. Choose a winder that is appropriate for your watch. Vintage watch is smaller than new timepieces with a diameter of fewer than 36 millimeters. There are also some watches that may be too large for a winder
  5. Consider a sealed winder because it can protect the timepiece from dust. A velvet-lined winder cushions the watch.

Though automatic watch winders continue to become popular, they seem to be unnecessary for watch owners. Then again, they provide a helpful purpose such as keeping your watch wound up while they’re not worn. They are also useful for mens titanium watches. With prices ranging from cheap to expensive, finding one for your watch may be easy.
