A really great thing about a natural bracelet is that it brings in a lot of beautiful organic colors that can even be a bright. This is a simple way to add color to your wardrobe and it’s not expensive. You might be afraid to wear a lot of color or you just want something that compliments you. Instead, you can bring it in on your jewelry for a welcome way to break up that basic black or white outfit.

Color doesn’t have to be daring it could even be a subtle champagne diamond. For instance, a lot of this jewelry features delicate bands in different colors of tan, black and brown. You can make these kind of pieces inspirational or sentimental. Often times you’ll find a candidate that looks like a sterling silver charm with a word such as hope or peace. This can be a very organic feeling piece but at the same time it can also be a great gift if someone just needs a little bit of a pick me up. It can be a reminder and also a conversation piece at the same time and is a very budget friendly option.

Of course, you can bring in color by the type of stone that you use. You could make this feel very modern and contemporary by going with a black onyx piece. You can find a lot of rather large pieces that you can easily incorporate into your wardrobe. However, it will be a little bit more elegant than just cheap rhinestone bracelets because you’ll be using a genuine material. It’s also important to pay attention to the metal color. Sterling silver seems to be the staple for these kinds of designs just because it is so inexpensive. At the same time, you want to make sure that it has a brushed or antique finish so that it isn’t too glaring. You want to make sure that the focal point is the stone and the free-form feeling.

Giving Emerald Rings To Your Loved One Shows Your Undying Love And Affection

April 25th, 2010, Posted in Jewelry, Rings, Uncategorized

Even though women may be genetically programmed to fall in love with jewelry, it is still easy to see why they love emerald rings so much.  Emeralds are a member of the beryl family of gemstones, which means that it is a hard stone, that produces deep green hues, almost appearing black under certain lighting.

When you do not want to give your special someone a diamond ring, but instead want to stand out from the crowd, maybe the cool glamour of emerald rings is just what you need.  The magnificent beauty of these stones encased in precious metals makes them highly sought after.

The look of an emerald stone is not the only reason you should consider giving one to your special someone.  History shows that the emerald has been associated with the Goddess Venus.  Because Venus is considered to be the goddess of love, women have an easier time finding beauty in the stone, as opposed to other rocks, such as rubies or pearls.  Most women will take your gifted emerald ring as a sign of your undying love for them, even though it may not be a diamond.

The Goddess Venus is not the only historical figure said to have possessed large amounts of emerald stones. Queen Cleopatra used emeralds as gifts, and a token of her love and appreciation to important people that came to her kingdom. Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, can also often be seen wearing emerald jewels that were presented to her by her husband Prince Charles.

Engagement rings do not necessarily have to be diamonds. You can see that emeralds hold a large amount of history and allure, and are still, to this day, adorned by royalty.  Giving a genuine emerald ring to your loved one is a great way to show your undying love and affection towards them.

Moissanite

Moissanite is gaining popularity as a diamond simulant as compared to the diamonds other popular simulant, the cubic zirconia, moissanite is almost the same hardness as a diamond and just as beautiful. It is because of it’s hardness being similar to the diamond that moissanite is often used in thermal as well as electronic application and it is useful for high pressure experiments. It was in Arizona, at the Diablo Canyon or the Meteor Crater that fragments of the moissanite from a meteorite were found. Dr. Ferdinand Henri Moissan, a noble prize winner was the discoverer of this mineral. It’s natural form is incredibly rare and expensive but fortunately it is relatively simple to recreate in the lab as silicon carbide is its synthetic form. The reproductions have the benefit of being just as incredible as the real deal while being significantly cheaper than a diamond.

Its uses:

This mineral is often described in it’s natural form as looking like tiny diamonds in the meteorite material, although the available moissanite on the market is created in laboratories before being cut as gemstones and used as a diamond stimulant. It is popular as it brings in twice the fire of diamond and has a similar index of refraction to the jeweller’s table. Because of the difficulty in growing crystal it can be costly for a sizeable piece of Moissanite Jewelry, but it has caused quite a stir in the markets of jewellers and to the naked eye it is very difficult to note the difference between it and a diamond.

Physical characteristics:

Moissanite ranges from colorless to black but its basic color is green. With adamantine luster, its crystals are translucent to transparent. Isometric, trigonal, and hexagonal are its different crystal system. Moissanite has a specific gravity of 3.1 to 3.2 at an average while its refraction index is 2.6 to 2.7 and the minerals associated with moissanite are olivine and iron meteorites. Its crystal habits include tiny grains and six sided plates in meteorites.

Silver Heart Charms

Dangling gently from a thin metal chain is a small ornament, simple in design but drawing attention all the same. It is a heart-shaped pendant, made from precious silver.

These silver heart charms are the perfect complement to any outfit; with their simple yet elegant design, they accentuate without being overbearing or flashy.

The pendants come in a variety of sizes and designs, but all hold one unique thing in common: they are formed in the shape of a heart, the everlasting symbol of love and faithfulness.  Just like other examples of heart jewelry, they are a clear representation of the feelings that one person has for another.

Gold metal is often a popular choice, but silver holds its own niche in the market. With a smooth elegance that quietly asserts itself, silver charms stand out both in formal and casual wear. They can be found on an assortment of accessories, the most common being bracelets or necklaces, as well as earrings or even key chains.

The availability of designs are nearly limitless; anything from a simple silver charm to exquisite scroll-work and carved designs, with precious stones as accents. A trendy design that is most often seen is a heart-shaped locket. This heart-warming charm is hollow inside, with a tiny clasp that can be opened to reveal the touching memento within. It can be a memorable picture of loved ones such as children or a spouse, or sometimes a lock of hair, such as from a baby’s first haircut, to remember the occasion by. Occasionally the lady’s name, or some other word (“love,” and “hope,” are two examples), is inscribed on the charm in a gentle, curving font.

Whether worn on a thin chain around the neck or on the wrist, silver heart charms are a lovely addition to accessorize any outfit. Blending in with the rest of the attire, they still manage to stand out enough to catch the eye. Casual outing or formal dinner: there are few events that cannot stand such a beautiful complement.

What You Need to Know About Men’s Tungsten Carbide Wedding Bands

April 8th, 2010, Posted in Jewelry, Rings, Uncategorized

Imagine the beauty that results from processing the basic grey powder comprising tungsten carbide.  When used as jewelry, the appearance is of a fine luster, and when polished or buffed, can have a mirror finish that lasts for years.

Men’s tungsten carbide wedding bands are appearing more frequently in jewelry stores, as the shine is long lasting and the surface resists nicks and scuffs.  Using nickel as a binder rather than cobalt is the most current practice.  The former use of cobalt as a binder is being discontinued because it bonds with skin oils, oxidizing the finish and stain or irritating the skin.  The use of nickel produces a non-reactive and hypoallergenic product.

It is important to know the combination of materials in your purchase.  Some are purely tungsten without a binder, so scratch much easier. and lose their polish quicker.  The density of the finished product is what contributes to the strength.  It strength as rated against other materials is ten times as hard as silver and gold, eight times stronger than platinum,  four times as hard as titanium, and compared to steel, twice as hard.

The material is strong and wear-resistant, requiring diamond abrasives of industrial strength to cut or engrave the surface. It is considered an ideal material for men’s jewelry because of its hardiness and resistance to damage, and is marketed as modern and masculine.   Because of the extreme strength of the material, jeweler’s saws and locking vise grips are used to remove the rings in the case of a medical  emergency.

Searching for the variety of available designs, one may find a ring that is two tone, laser engraved,  round, flat, textured, beveled, grooved, domed with grooves, or inlaid with platinum, sterling silver, or gold.   It is the strongest metal alloy known to exist, formed by combining Tungsten and Carbide powders at 2,400 degrees Fahrenheit.  The qualities in the metal make it an economical choice and also reflect the qualities needed to maintain a strong union.

Maintaining the ring is a matter of a simple cleaning with a mild soap and water.  Easy care for a beautiful piece of workmanship. And while the white gold men’s wedding ring has been popular, this ring choice is coming on strong.

Choosing A Large Digital Wall Clock

April 5th, 2010, Posted in Clocks, Uncategorized, Wall Clocks

There is a great benefit to having a large wall clock. Of course the greatest advantage is that you will be able to see the time easier. Even if you are in another room if you can see your clock you will probably be able to see the time. An extra large wall clock can be especially helpful for elderly people who may have a harder time seeing. Even with glasses it may be hard for them to make out time and the larger digital clock will help with this.

There are a couple things to think about when shopping for a clock. For one, think about the shape of the clock for one. You can find clocks in pretty much every shape and size imaginable. Some people prefer the more traditional look of a round clock while others want a more modern look and go with a different shape like a rectangle or triangle.

The numbers on the clock are also important to consider. Do you want regular numbers or something fancier like roman numerals? With a digital clock the time is usually shown in standard 12 hour form. There are usually no hands but instead the three or four digits making up the time.

Determine whether you need any extra features on the clock. Perhaps you are planning to hang the clock in your bedroom and want an alarm. Some wall clocks are electrical but a battery operated version is probably a better choice because it saves you from dealing with cords running down the sides of your walls. It allows for more versatility as well because you can then hang it wherever you want and not have to worry about having it near an electrical outlet.

Color is another important feature to consider. You want a clock that will work well with the room décor so figure out what would work best. If you want a muted look try finding a clock that is just a hue or two lighter than the wall shade. On the other hand if you are going for a more dramatic look you should try choosing a contrasting color. This will help make your clock stand out and be a focal point of the room.

A large digital wall clock is a helpful accessory to have in the home. It helps you tell time more easily but also adds a nice look to any home.
